Andrew wendt, a legal immigrant since 1978, brings a unique perspective to the Michigan State Senate. As a blind man, he sees the dysfunction in Lansing with clarity and uses his sharpened listening skills to unite. A proud graduate of Michigan State University, Andrew has dedicated his life to public service as a former Saginaw City Councilman for eight years, urban school teacher, ethnic vice chair for the Michigan Republican Party, and UAW Local 699 member. With a strong educational foundation and decades of experience, he is ready to fight for the 35th District.
As a father and lifelong educator, I stand against any form of grooming or indoctrination in schools. Classrooms must be safe places to learn, not political battlegrounds. I’ll fight for parental rights, giving moms and dads a real voice and transparency in what’s taught. Our kids deserve better. It’s families first.
"Public safety isn’t a slogan—it’s the foundation of Michigan’s 35th District. We’ll fight crime with stronger policing and mental health support. I’ll expand addiction treatment and naloxone access to curb overdoses. Securing our borders will stop deadly fentanyl from reaching our neighborhoods.

"Dear Senators Slotkin and Peters,
Michigan families are hurting—not partisan politics. This 34-day federal shutdown means furloughed workers can’t pay rent, 1.4 million neighbors risk losing SNAP benefits, and vital services stall. Put families first: pass a clean continuing resolution today.
